I recently did something I’ve wanted to do for a very long time and finally pitched to HelloGiggles!
It’s a very cathartic piece about friendship breakups and I’m so glad it’s resonated with so many, including none other than Paramore’s Hayley Williams:
How cool is that!

After seeing a housemate on Celebrity Big Brother ridiculed on national television for having dirty underwear (read: not ‘dirty’, just containing discharge) and seeing a disheartening response online, I felt inspired to write about vaginal discharge. After all, it’s a natural bodily function.
I’m pleased to see the response has mostly been positive. It’s been shared in a number of period related Facebook groups and pages (including one of my favourites, Put A Cup In It) and my page views are at an all time high!
The comments on my original post give me hope too, which you can read here.
This has made my year! It’s an absolute honour to be included alongside some incredible people who incredible things. See the full list here.
After receiving an absolutely mindblowing response to our body positive response to the Protein World ad, we wanted to take it one step further and make the response even more inclusive. After all, our ‘protest’ is simply us wanting to celebrate all kinds of beauty. Fiona and I very much represent one ideal of beauty.
We teamed up with comedian Juliette Burton and organised an enormous beach body photo. It was a great day and I met so many wonderful people, including a group of amazing teenage feminists as well as Gogglebox’s very own Sandi and Sandra! You can see some of these badasses in action by reading Fiona’s write-up here.
The very talented Becky Barnicoat illustrated the day for BuzzFeed and spoke to a number of people who were there, which you can view here.
Other press coverage includes NewStatesmen and VICE (where you can find more photos from the day).
Earlier this month, UK feminist site The F Word invited me to write about some of the more extreme backlash I’ve been on the receiving end of lately. You can read the piece here.
The wonderful Carly Lane recently showed her support for our body positive statement in response to Protein World’s ad and interviewed me for HelloGiggles.
You can check it out here.
Mine and Fiona’s response to Protein World’s ‘Beach Body Ready’ campaign has officially gone viral!
In case you missed it, we recently posed in our bikinis next to this poster to remind you that you don’t have to look a certain way in order to be ‘beach ready’.
The tweet is making its rounds across online editorials alongside other fantastic responses to the advert, check it out!
